Our MissionThe Mission of Practical Project Management is to educate others and advance project management practices using a practical, common sense approach that keeps project and portfolio management efficient and effective.
Company ProfileBarbara A. Schrage, PMP, has over 22 years experience in various aspects of project management, ranging from managing large, cross-functional product development projects to Asst. Vice President of a centralized PMO in a Fortune 500 Financial Services organization. As leader of the PMO, she had accountabilities for project portfolio management, project prioritization, project approvals, project methodology, and project metrics. In addition, she was accountable for results of projects led by the Project & Program Managers within the PMO, with a specific focus on projects tied to the corporate scorecard. She mentored and developed leadership skills in project and program managers. Barbara has been a member of PMI since 1991 and has been PMP certified since 1997. She co-founded the Northeast WI PMI Chapter and was elected to serve as the chapter’s first president. Barbara is the owner of Practical Project Management, LLC. She helps her clients mature their project management practices in various ways, from implementing Project Management Offices and Project Portfolio Management practices to improving their project management processes and templates. She also teaches project management courses within organizations as well as at the Executive Education Business School at UW-Madison. Besides her experience in the financial services industry, her clients have spanned various industries, such as utility, health care, manufacturing, market research and retail.
